If you’re anything like me you have spent hours running here and there, with the gusto of an energiser bunny. You’ve probably tried lifting weights and riding the stationary bike until you’ve sweat every drop of moisture from your body.

Your body has likely undergone every form of nutritional variant, diet and cleanse, yet you still resemble the Michelin man. What the heck is going on?

It is almost as if your life is fighting against all of your efforts. You try to get up early in the morning to exercise but the bed covers are almost impossible to remove. You make a nice salad for lunch but it’s someone’s birthday at your work so you can’t be unsociable while everyone is eating having birthday cake.

It’s like an unknown force is conspiring to make you fail. And that may actually be the case.

Most of us have tried a hypnotist or affirmations, but who are you talking to, or convincing that change needs to happen, and does it really work? Imagine you created an amazing statue of clay and you are really proud of your efforts. Now imagine that your child came running through the house with a friend and throwing a ball about. You will probably get very protective of your masterpiece. Maybe you will cover it with a protective shield. Perhaps you will put it away from danger in a room where it cannot be damaged.

Now imagine you created a magnificent human, to enjoy a lifetime on the Earth. There are many dangers in this world and you are worried that it may get damaged or hurt. Perhaps you may put some padding around it so that it can be safe from some of those dangers.

Your sub-conscious (or soul) creates the circumstances for a human and does various things to keep it safe from harm. It may be that the padding appears as weight gain and, by exercising or dieting, you are removing the protective wrap that is essential to keep you safe so your sub-conscious will fight to keep it there.
